It has been a while since I was last on this blog. Some wonderful things have happened. Had a B’day last month and got some nice gifts from my good knitting friends. I will share one of the gifts with you all. It is a ceramic sheep which has become the shop mascot. Also got a gift certificate for gardening supplies.

Couple of weeks ago, I got all geared up to garden and while I was cleaning the planter in fron to the house, I interrupted a quail nest so needless to say I did zero gardening.

This week (on wednesday) several of the shops where I am did a wine stroll–it was called Vino & Vittles on Vassar Street. I turned out great; didn’t know wine could go so fast. I am sure there were several bottles between us. It was a good way to mingle with the public and the other shops.

Our own Knit n’ Rip Tahoe Lunch Cruise is coming up soon and that should be lots of fun. This Saturday a group of Raverly Knitters and crocheters are meeting in public for some fun and awareness.

You know how we all have stash of yarn in our spare bedroom, well I was tackling that room trying to organize it; and oh boy, what a mess. I found things that I totally forgot about. The room looks like a tornado hit, well I have my work cut out for me.

On Saturday, June 14th was the World Wide Knit in Public and by golly I was at Meadowood Mall at 10 am knitting with some of our local knitters and crocheters, we even had our special twins there. I stayed there till 12:30 since I had to open shop. It was lots of fun.

Happy Valentine’s Day to all
Today is a day for love, friendships and just be nice to each other. Well, we have been having some crazy weather this week; in the 60’s a few days ago and freezing the past couple of days. Oh well, that’s is expected in Nevada, if you don’t like the weather, wait five minutes and it will change.
Hope everyone will be doing fun stuff on this special day.

We’ve had a quite a few inquiries about The Crazy Socks Contest. Check the website for all the details. http://www.deluxeyarns.com I want to thank Knittyotter for posting it on her blog, go girl. feel free to do the same if you want to spread the fun.

I have to get ready to go open the shop now to try to make a buck. Have a great Valentine’s Day all.

January 29, 2008

Hello to everyone!!

Imagine that, 2008 is here, the month if almost over. Hope everyone had a great
holiday. Now we have to start working on the things that’s not finished and new
ones. As we all know, we wait until the last minute to work on holiday presents.

Our holiday charity went very well. We handed out all the hand knitted, and
crocheted items to the less fortunate, on Thanksgiving Day at St. Vincent’s. We
are planning to do another Charity knit and crochet. If you would like to help,
and don’t have yarn, we have plenty of donated yarn; just come by the shop and
pick up some. Things that are needed: hats, mittens, scarf, socks and whatever
you wish to make.

What’s new for the New Year?
For all you sock lovers, we are doing a CRAZY SOCKS CONTEST using all your
leftover sock yarns. For more information and to sign up, please go to the website:
http://www.deluxeyarns.com/crazysockcontest.html. If you know someone without a computer, please
pass the word. We also have flyers at the shop. This will be a good way to get
rid of those little leftover balls of sock yarn.

Noro has come out with a new Sock yarn and yes, we have it here. I also like to
help the independent small yarn company. We now have SeaCoast Handpainted
Sock yarns.

Coming soon is our Mystery Sock in a Bag. This went very well so we are doing
it again. We are also going to do Knit-Up Reno in the park, when the weather is much
nicer (summer) that was also a success.
We have not forgotten our very first plan to Knitting on the Lake, that’s in the working.

If nothing else, this is good weather to knit, crochet, so bring out the sticks and hooks.
Don’t forget we also have our social meet groups 1st Monday, and 3rd Thursday of the month from 6 p.m. to 8 p. m.

Thank you and have a great beginning of the year.
Florrie
